Abstract
In recent years,with the development of economic globalization,the rapid
improvement of technology,and the intensification of external competition,
user needs have become more and more personalized,making companies have
to explore new opportunities through innovation to maintain long-term
viability .Among them,the introduction of new products to the market to
obtain economic benefits has become a key measure for enterprises to win in
differentiated competition.Supply chain thinking drives the re-execution of
new product development processes by enterprises,leading to new product
development not only as an individual's behavior,but also as a competition
among supply chains or industrial chains.Manufacturing companies are
limited by their own resources and capabilities,and constantly seek external
cooperation from suppliers to obtain their unique technologies and resources,
incorporate more innovative thinking,shorten development cycles,enhance
product flexibility,and maximize corporate innovation performance.Therefore,
supplier participation in new product development has become a focus of
attention in the academic and practical circles.However,while a large number
of empirical and case studies have emerged,disagreements about the role of
supplier participation in corporate innovation are increasing.Therefore,this
article is based on resources,knowledge-based theory and transaction cost
theory,using Meta analysis technology,based on 156effect values in 58
English documents,and exploring the truth between supplier participation and
new product development performance through standardized meta-analysis
procedures.It also examines the influence of factors such as the supplier’s
participation stage,performance measurement type,national economic level,
industry technology type,and enterprise size on the relationship between the
two,in order to find potential moderators.
The research results show that:(1)From the main effect of variables,on
the whole,supplier participation has a positive role in promoting the
performance of new product development of enterprises.(2)From the point of
view of the adjustment effect test,the supplier's participation in the early design
stage of the new product is more helpful to the new product development

performance than the participation in the development and release stage;
compared with the customer performance,the research on the new product
development performance using market performance measurement The
relationship between supplier participation in China and the innovation
performance of enterprises is stronger;at the national economic level,supplier
participation in developed countries has a stronger positive effect on new
product development performance than in non-developed countries;compared
with high-tech industries,non-high-tech industries have a stronger positive
effect on new product development performance.In the development of new
products,supplier participation has a greater impact on it;the final assumption
about the effect of company size adjustment has not been verified,that is,it
has not been found that the relationship between supplier participation and new
product development performance in large companies is stronger than that of
small companies.
Based on the above research results,this article draws a conclusion on the
universality of supplier participation in new product development,verifies the
real existence of multiple regulatory effects,and puts forward practical
recommendations for companies to develop strategies for supplier participation
in new product development.Further theoretical research pointed out the
direction.
