当我们想到商场，典型的印象，想到的是豆腐块一样的格子间连在一起的建筑，可能是最令人兴奋的部分就是有好吃的地方。那么南波公园，这个位于日本大阪的一个巨大的零售和写字楼综合体，则完全颠覆了商场和写字楼综合体给人的沉闷刻板的印象。在旧时大阪棒球场位置开建的南波公园，以惊人的速度发展，在2003年修建完成了这件作品，它有8个级别的天台花园，里面包含了各类的功能植物园，岩石群，峭壁和峡谷，草地，溪流，瀑布，池塘，甚至还包括了蔬菜田!
NambaParkswasconceivedwhenOsakaStadiumcloseddown,presentingagreatredevelopmentopportunityforanewcommercialdistrictrightnexttotheNambaTrainStation,whichisjustonestopawayfromKansaiAirport.Sinceit'soneofthefirstplacesthatvisitorstothecitymightsee,ownerNankaiElectricRailwayaskedtheJerdePartnershiptoenvisionthenewdevelopmentasagatewaythatwouldredefineOsaka'sidentity.
提出南波公园这个设想的时候，正值大阪体育场关闭，规划提出在南波火车站附近构建一处大型的商业综合体，这也是正值关西机场一站式交通一个伟大的发展机遇。由于它是旅行者来到这个城市第一个会看到的地方之一。当时提出的规划要求就是把南波公园建设成城市的一个重要综合节点，这关系到大阪新的身份的界定

设计者的意愿是将南波公园打造成为，一个在大阪密集城市中的巨大绿色空间

Theentiredevelopmentincludesa30-storyofficetowerandadjacentmall,butwhatreallymakesNambaParksstandoutisitsrooftopparkthatgraduallyascendseightlevelsandgivespassers-throughthefeelingthattheyareactuallystandinghighonamountaintopinnaturewhenthey'reactuallyrightinthemiddleofthecity.
整个项目主体包括一个30层的办公楼和与其相邻的商场，但真正让南波公园与众不同之处则在于它的屋顶公园，逐渐抬高的8个平台让过往行人在行走的同时感觉到自己仿佛穿梭在山谷之间，但是他们又实实在在的在这座城市当中。
