Dear Readers,
amidst climate change and dwindling global resources, the global community needs to find sustainable
solutions to power the world. Since the early 1980s, Germany has been in pursuit of the so-called
“Energiewendie” (energy transformation), spearheading Germany’s transition to a low carbon, environmentally
sound, reliable and affordable energy supply which has proudly served as an example for renewable energy
policies across the globe.
German companies have been leading efforts to switch to sustainable energy production – and the numbers
speak for themselves: by 2014, one quarter of Germany’s gross energy output was generated through
renewable energy sources, signifcantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions. And especially wind power has
proven to be a “breath of fresh air” on the constantly changing energy market: Wind energy alone accounts
for 8.6% of the total annual energy mix in Germany as well as for 11.4% of the EU’s energy production.
With its large land mass and long coastline, China has exceptional wind power resources, that are hard to
fnd anywhere else on the planet. China has always been a country that “braves the wind and the billows”,
(chéngfēngpòlàng, 乘风破浪)and is in pursuit of its very own “Energiewende” – wind will continue to play
an integral role in powering China and the German companies assembled in this directory are an invaluable
resource for connecting to German expertise to make the most of wind energy. We are committed as ever to

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Germany has set itself major energy policy objectives as part of the Energiewende (Energy Transition).
Greenhouse gas emission levels should be reduced by at least 80 percent by 2050, the share of renewable
energy sources in the power sector increased to 80 percent, and total energy consumption reduced by 50
percent.
Wind energy is an extremely important component of the Energiewende – being the most widely used
renewable energy source. With total installed capacity of more than 50 GW, Germany is by far the largest
wind market in Europe and third in the world. Alongside a highly developed onshore market, the frst 4.1 GW
of offshore power have already been connected to the power grid.
Sustained wind energy development will be decisive to the successful implementation of the Energiewende.
With more than 20 years of experience, German companies are recognized internationally for quality and
innovation.
A strong market, stable conditions and available know-how contribute signifcantly to Germany's high level
of attractiveness as a wind industry location. To this can be added stable framework conditions as well as an
excellent industry and research landscape. I am convinced that Germany offers Chinese companies excellent
investment and market opportunities.
